Marine Electronics, Anchor Winches & Electrical Work

Sounders, chartplotters, VHF, stereos, anchor winches, wiring and battery systems.

Marine electrics fail for the same three reasons every time: corrosion, vibration, and connections done with the wrong crimp. We wire and install gear so it survives a saltwater environment, not just the drive home from the shop.

What’s included

  • Chartplotter, GPS and fishfinder supply and installation
  • Transducer selection, mounting and tuning
  • VHF radio and aerial installation
  • Anchor winch supply, installation and repair
  • Marine stereo and speaker installation
  • Navigation and deck lighting, including LED upgrades
  • Battery banks, isolators, VSRs and dual-battery setups
  • Switch panels, fuse blocks and full rewires
  • Electrical fault finding and corrosion repairs

Anchor winch installation

An anchor winch is one of the best upgrades you can put on a trailer boat, and also one of the most commonly botched. It needs cable sized properly for the current it pulls, its own circuit protection, solid mounting into reinforced deck, and a rode locker set up so the rope actually feeds instead of jamming.

We supply and fit winches to suit your boat and the anchor you actually use, wire them properly, and test them under load before the boat goes home.

Electronics that work when you need them

A sounder is only as good as its transducer install. Put it in the wrong spot and it reads nothing above idle, which is a fitting problem rather than a problem with the unit. We take the time to find a position that will hold bottom at speed.

We install chartplotters, sounders, VHF and stereo systems, set them up properly, and show you how to use the features you paid for.

Wiring, batteries and fault finding

Most marine electrical faults come back to the same handful of things: green corroded terminals, cable that is too thin for the job, automotive connectors used where marine ones belong, or an earth that was never properly bonded. Finding those takes a multimeter and patience, not a box of new parts.

We also set up dual-battery systems with proper isolation, so your start battery is still there after a day on the anchor with the stereo going.

Questions

Electronics & Electrical: common questions

Can you install an anchor winch on my boat?

Yes, supply and installation including the wiring, circuit protection and deck mounting. We match the winch to your boat and the anchor and rode you actually run.

Why does my sounder stop reading at speed?

Nearly always the transducer position. If it sits in turbulent water behind a strake, a rivet line or the prop wash, it loses the bottom the moment you get up on the plane. Moving it usually sorts it.

Can you fit a second battery so I do not flatten the starter?

Yes. We install dual-battery systems with an isolator or VSR so the stereo, lights and fridge all draw off one battery while the start battery stays out of it.

Do you supply the electronics or do I buy them?

Either way works. We can supply and install, or fit gear you have already bought. Have a chat to Danny about what suits the boat and the budget.

Getting started

One workshop for the whole boat

Engines, electronics, trailers, grooming and storage all happen in the same place, so jobs can be combined into one visit instead of three. Tell us what the boat is doing and we will tell you what it needs.
